Gail Schwartz, gun safety activist, introduced her organization, Ban Assault Weapons Now (BAWN), at the League of Women Voters Broward’s Florida Gun Safety Forum: Legislative Update on June 23.  Ms. Schwartz, whose nephew was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas mass shooting on Valentine’s Day 2o18, is working with BAWN for a statewide initiative to place a constitutional amendment banning assault weapons on the 2020 Florida ballot.  For the proposed Florida constitutional amendment just to be placed on the ballot, 800,000 signatures are required statewide.

Congressman Ted Deutsch (D-Parkland) and Mayor Skip Campbell (Coral Springs) are honorary co-chairs of the BAWN Steering Committee.
